Support

Here you can see a list of some of the support services out there. I will give a small overview of what they offer

Mermaids

Mermaids UK offers helpline and webchat support for children, young people, and families, alongside safe online community spaces where people can connect.

They provide guidance for parents and carers, and organise events and residential weekends to bring families together.

The charity also shares information on gender identity and navigating schools or health services, while leading advocacy and public education to raise awareness and improve rights.

Just Like Us

Just Like Us works with schools to support LGBTQ+ young people by running school talks and workshops led by trained ambassadors.

They help set up Pride Groups in schools, giving students safe spaces to connect and celebrate identity.

The charity also runs an Ambassador Programme for LGBT+ young adults, offering training and opportunities to share their stories, while promoting allyship and visibility across education.

The Proud Trust

The Proud Trust supports LGBTQ+ young people by running youth groups and safe spaces across the UK.

They provide mentoring and oneโ€‘toโ€‘one support, alongside training and resources for schools and professionals to help create inclusive environments.

The charity also develops educational materials and toolkits so young people, families, and teachers can access clear guidance, while promoting community connection and empowerment through events and projects.

Stonewall Young Futures

Stonewall Young Futures helps LGBTQ+ young people by offering guidance on education, training, and employment pathways.

They provide resources and toolkits for schools, colleges, and youth services to make learning environments more inclusive.

The programme also connects young people with support networks and opportunities to build confidence, while promoting equality and visibility across education and workplaces.
